The Texas Education Agency administers billions of dollars in state and federal funds that support programs to benefit public education and help improve outcomes for students. Funds come from multiple sources, including state and federal resources, federal grants, and the Permanent School Fund endowment. 

Texas provides public, annual academic accountability ratings earned by public school districts, charters and schools. The ratings are based on performance on state standardized tests; graduation rates; and college, career, and military readiness outcomes.  

Texas public schools employ more than 320,000 teachers. The Texas Education Agency provides a wide array of services to help school and district leaders hire, retain, train, support and evaluate high quality educators.

The Texas Education Agency is committed to helping leaders leverage the most effective research-based practices to lead schools and districts and improve outcomes for Texas schoolchildren.

In addition to supporting well-trained teachers delivering high-quality instruction, School and District Leaders maintain complex operational systems. The Texas Education Agency offers support and guidance in helping to identify and manage these systems.

Texas offers many programs designed to help students achieve college and career readiness, including High-Quality Instructional Materials ReviewAdvanced Academics, programs for Special Student Populations, and Career and Technical Education. College and career readiness standards have been built into the TEKS

These policies include a student code of conduct outlining disciplinary actions taken based on student behavior. The Texas Education Agency's (TEA) Student Discipline Program provides guidance to school systems and regional education service centers (ESCs) on these disciplinary policies, procedures, and discipline data reporting requirements.

The Texas Education Agency administers the laws and rules that govern education in the state. Information is available on existing laws and rules, the process by which rules are adopted, and the enforcement of those rules.

TEA partners with 20 Regional Education Service Centers (ESCs) that provide support to school systems all across the state. They provide a wide array of training, services such as handling payroll for districts, providing meeting space and much more.
